Big Sam

Sam is 5 months old today, but he is about the size of a one-year-old. He is easily pushing 20 pounds. All my babies are chubby, but this is a record for us! I wonder if I am just a good provider or if he has some rogue gene. He has been wearing 6-9 month clothing for over a month now and he is starting to grow out of that size. It has been a little challenging because he also really likes to be held. Usually by the time they are this size, they can support some of their own weight and hold onto you when you carry them. I can't really hold him on my hip because he can't support his own head and back, and when I try to hold him facing outward, he eventually slips out of my arms.

That being said, he is sooooooo cute! He smiles whenever someone looks at him and he is pretty laid back. He likes to be held a lot, but he doesn't cry very often. We love to rock him and all my girls are totally in love with him. I think he and Annie, in particular, will be very close. Annie jumps up every time he makes a peep. She always wants to make Sam happy for me. They even fight over who is going to make him happy. Sam smiles at her whenever he sees her. It is so great to have 3 extra mommies around to help out!

Well, Preston is catching up with him. He is 17 pounds and only 3 weeks younger. Actually he might be more than 17 pounds now since that weight was 1 week ago. Haha.

I don't know how much longer we will be able to tote him around in his baby bjorn - it seriously hurts out backs. I wonder if there are any other wonder-carriers for young babies where you don't have to strap them onto you (besides strollers).

Anyway Sam is a cutie though. He is such a great baby too - I haven't ever really heard him cry. I think it helps that he has siblings around to play with him and entertain him. I think Preston would LOVE to have siblings - he just lights up when he is around other kids or babies. And it's also probably why he gets to so bored and fussy. :) Haha. Oh well! He's just going to have to wait a while!

See you on Sunday!

Sam has three cute little Momma's how fun! Your three girls are just growing up so fast, maybe that is why Sam is trying so hard to catch up :)

Where are the pictures? For those of us who only peek in on your life through your blog, we need the cute baby pictures. Seems like life has gotten back to workable again. I always loved/disliked the first few months. Always filled with such great moments, but a lot of adjustments, too. Glad you are back! Pam

i can confirm that he has the sweetest biggest smiles for anyone that looks his way--melts your heart in an instant! and i have a theory that these babies with older siblings have to be a little more stout to cushion all the "loves" they get from all the wonderful mommy helpers that adore them! so sweet about how you already can see the sweet relationship between Annie and Sam already!

I agree with the 'kirkwood family', those of us who don't get to see him would love pictures!! I'm so glad he's good natured even if he is killing your back. Sounds like a good reason for Mark to give you a back rub!

I bet he is a cutie. My Brian was my biggest baby too. But Sam is bigger than Brian was at 5 months. Hope you had a fun Halloween. Can't wait to see some pictures.
