Ella's Birthday

Ella turned 6 on April 4th! She is such a sweet girl and we love her so much! I made a little "I love you because..." book. Here are some of the reasons (in no particular order):

1. I love you because you like to ski black diamond trails!
2. I love you because you walk around my house singing primary songs like, "If the Savior Stood Beside Me" and "God Gave Us Families" all the time and perfectly!
3. I love you because you make the nicest cards for me!
4. I love you because you keep your desk so nice and organized.
5. I love you because you have the face of an angel.
6. I love you because you call me "mama" and the sweetness of it melts my heart!

I've told my kids that they can have a birthday party on the odd years and a family party on the even years. On the even years they can also take a friend to do something special. Ella chose to take two friends to Chuck E Cheese's, which I neglected to get pictures of. On her birthday, though, Ella wanted to go skiing, so we had our last official family ski day. Mark and I took turns playing with Sam and Annie and skiing with Olivia and Ella. My brother was also up there enjoying his only ski day in the midst of his first year in dental school. The picture is of Olivia, Ella and Dean.

The video below is of Ella and Olivia skiing the top of Alpental for the first time. They really progressed this year and it has become such a fun activity to do together. We can't wait until the whole fam can enjoy this activity together!

Even Annie got in on the action. We have promised her that she can ski next year. I'm so glad we didn't attempt lessons this year because the few times we did put her skis on her she freaked out! I think next year will be better.
After skiing we went to Red Robin and Ella was serenaded by the waiters/waitresses. She was so sweet to share her birthday sundae with her sisters. Finally, we went home for more ice cream. Ella doesn't like cake so I decided to give her an ice cream cake, but I ran out of time to make one. My parents used to dump a container of Dreyer's ice cream out of the container and stick a candle on top. Fortunately, Ella thought this was the best cake ever!
Finally, presents! Ella got an ipod Shuffle from her dad and I made her a little bag for her scriptures.

Happy birthday Ella!

The bag is cute and oddly familiar! ;) I remember those ice cream cakes. The skiing looks like fun. Glad it was a good birthday for her. Glad you are back online!
